How Jackson is doing!

Jackson is coming along with his training and getting used to living in a house and still is a bit nervous but he is also very cheeky and naughty. I am doing fine to!

I have had such a good time training Jackson and learning how to blog, so as Jackson gets older we will be able to train him a bit more but he may just get fed up...

Jackson no longer goes to his training but he has learned a lot from going. If your dog needs training then go to the Sheffield dog training.

Thank you to all of you that read my blog and that enjoy reading about how to keep your dog a healthy dachshund!

Thats all from me...

see you next time!!!!!

Sheffield Dog Training

Because of Jackson's fear of people we decided to take him to Sheffield Dog Training. In the first class they helped us do 3 basic commands: sit, flat and stand.

They say flat instead of down because we use down in other ways such as ''get down from the stairs.'' They also do a hand movement for sit where you put your hand to the chest.

One thing they suggested was that you try lots of different types of treats, they even use cheese!  We didn't know dogs loved cheese.

Even though Jackson was scared he said hello to everyone and did very well.

Sheffield Dog Training is an amazing place to take your dog and we can't wait to learn more next week.

If you want to go to Sheffield Dog Training you can find them here:

Jackson's Routine

It is really important to have a routine for your new dog. This is Jacksons routine, you can copy this routine if you want or make a different one but use some of my tips.

  • First he goes on a walk with Craig at 5:30am.
  • Then he has his breakfast at 6:00am.
  • Next at 8:15am he goes into the garden to see if he needs a poo or wee. He goes out to the garden at least once every hour throughout the day.
  • My mum takes him at for a walk in the park at 1:00pm.
  • When I get back from school me and my Mum take Jackson for another walk in the park.
  • He has his dinner at 6:00pm.
  • Jackson likes to go to bed at 10:30pm. We know this because he keeps pestering us until we take him up to his basket in the bedroom.

NEWS:
We have signed Jackson up for beginners doggie training classes. They are held on a Tuesday night and me, Craig and Mum will be going along. I will blog to let you know how we get on.

How to make your dog sit.

This is about how to make your dog sit. So first your need some training treats then call his/her name and make them in a standing position by walking around or moving him/her. Then raise the treats above his/her head and say ''sit'' then keep on saying ''sit'' then give them a treat once they sit.

Once he/her have mastered the sitting position you can go in to other things like stay, roll over, high five, shake hand, get the post and last but not least stand.

We tried this with Jackson today and he did really well. Lots of training still needed, but he is a really good boy.
